The Graupner Phantom is a fine beginners speed boat.
It comes as an ARR (almost ready to run) with the boat pre-made, and the motor and propeller pre-fitted.
All you have to do is place the radio gear into the pre-made spaces, and stick it down. Oh  yes ... and charge the battery!
The hull is fantastic, very stable, and the sub-surface drive makes it handle turns with ease.

HINT: Like many electric speedboats the Phantom goes very fast in reverse, fast enough to take water over the stern, and that's not good for the electronics!
So always tape the removable deck on with some insulating tape, so as to seal any tiny gaps before going out on the water, and go slow in reverse!
To be honest real (fullsize) speedboats are not designed for reverse drive, even though they can, they are unsafe while doing this.

In Australia and New Zealand hotly contested races are held for these small high-speed jet-boats.
The full-size machines are powered by 8-cylinder engines rated at around 1000 BHP combined with a propulsion unit.
The races are run against the clock over a staked-out course consisting of narrow channels. The boats are capable of top speeds of around 145 km/hr, and acceleration from 0 to 140 km/hr takes 3

Description
With the standard SPEED 600 RACE 7.2 V electric motor and two low-cost 4-cell batteries this  boat is capable of speeds up to about 23 km/hr.
n its standard form the jet-boat operates without a servo-operated reversing flap on the Mini-Hydro-Jet propulsion unit, which means that a low-cost 2-channel radio control system can be used. The experienced modeller may prefer to fit a 3-channel RC system so that the reversing flap on the jet unit can be controlled to provide reverse running. This is optional however.
