Dalkey Hill, Killiney Hill, Sorrento Point, Vico Road, Dublin - south east slopes
Killiney Hill and Dalkey Hill are the two hills at the south end of Dublin Bay. The view is excellent to the north: Howth Head - and to the south: Killiney Bay and beach, with Bray Head in the distance. Looking east across Dalkey Sound, you can see Dalkey Island and beyond that The Muglins. These hills are in a public park, and while not very high, just a couple of hundred feet, the wind comes over the sea and the lift is good. Sorrento Point (top left) is off the Vico Road, just under the park. There is a cliff here overlooking the beach. This is a popular destination for walkers and tourists, and care is essential, fast stuff is not appropriate, light HLGs and foamies suit the venue better. Model weights should be low eg 200-300 grams or so. When hang glidera or paragliders are flying, give them a wide horizontal berth, and never ever fly over a manned aircraft. Please email me your info about where you fly, so I can include it.. n o r m _ f l y e r @ y a h o o . c o . u k |
