Lough Tay, Luggala,  Co Wicklow - west facing slope

The glaciated valley at Lough Tay, Co Wicklow has to be one of the most scenic model flying places in the world.

Wild deer, and peregrine falcons are frequently seen, as well as kestrels. The hawks tend to accompany your glider for a while, flying in formation with it, and then go off for some hunting when they get bored. Other times they fly past from right to left in a fast flyby to have a quick look and checkout the flying model.

Stop on the wide place on the road, get out, over the wall, fly!

The picture shows the cliffs facing you while flying, but the drop off  right in front of the flying spot is almost as steep. Landings are very tight, so don't bring a 3-4 metre ship or you might never get it down!  Flying wings, planks, and small models are perfect, though we do fly the classic type gliders and motor gliders too.

 Please email me your info about where you fly, so I can include it..  n o r m _ f l y e r @ y a h o o . c o . u k
