Mweelin, Macroom, Co Cork - South-west facing slope
with North east slope on the back

Mweelin Mountain is at it's absolute best  in a south westerly.

There is a second slope on the back, near the main road, which is viable in north easterly winds.

Access from Macroom. Mweelin Mountain is about 10 miles / 16 Km west of Macroom. A road skirts the north and east sides of Mweelin, and a separate small track accesses the south side.

This is one of Irelands important slopes for RC gliders and power soaring, and models of all types and sizes can be flown here. The slope lift is good in several directions of wind. The surroundings are very pleasant.

Thanks to Brian in Kerry for contributing the photos.
