TMM "ACCUSW" Smart Backup Battery Switches

Is your favourite glow-engine or gasoline engine model worth a spare receiver battery? To make flying with models using glow engines and / or electric motors (aircrafts, helicopters) more reliable TMM designed intelligent receiver battery switches. These switches are used for automatic switch-over from dead or failing receiver batteries to the spare ones. (They are not intended for switching over power batteries in electro models.)

The switch, using two LEDs, indicates from which battery the energy is being drawn - the green LED illuminates during normal operation from master batteries, the red LED illuminates after switch-over to the spare batteries. All types are processor controlled.

ACCUSW 2 is low cost simpler model.  It switches over to the new pack in case of impending failure.

ACCUSW 4 is a more sophisticated model. It is able to analyze the condition of batteries more thoroughly and informs the pilot about switch-over to the spare batteries not only by LED but also acoustically. In case that both, master receiver batteries and spare ones, are empty ACCUSW 4 is able to connect them both together - pooling the power from both - to get the needed power for receiver and servos. Pilot is informed of this situation acoustically as well. ACCUSW 4 has capability to test battery condition with servo power drain load before actual flight (the assistance of the pilot is essential), and warns of a bad pack condition.

With ACCUS2 or ACCUS4, it is obvious after landing that the master receiver battery is discharged and must be charged before flying again and smashing the model. Spare batteries can have less capacity than master packs, no problem; both batteries must have the same number of cells. What is of great importance is the increased safety of model operation, which is particularly desirable when operating bigger models. Eventual switch failure will not affects its functioning. Switching on is done by switching off the switch, which can not obstruct the vital current.

The suitable switch type is decided by the current needed for your neds. For smaller currents choose ACCUS 2, which uses servo cable 0,25 mm2 as interconnection. ACCUS 4 is suitable for bigger currents using silicon cables 1 mm2 as interconnection ,and all large models.

These switches are manufactured using the technique of surface mounting. This method ensures increased reliability and small dimensions and weight. Encasing is carried out in a transparent heatshrink sleeve.
